Fun weekend activities

Daycare was closed today in honor of MLK day and when the boys are a bit older, we'll make it a service holiday but today was designated as a day of play. We drove up to Baltimore to spend some time with some of my friends and their kiddos and let them run wild at the Baltimore Children's Museum, Port Discovery. The boys were passed out after less than ten minutes in the car so I had a quiet drive back...wish I could have napped too!

The mommies and their kiddos (minus Allana)

Daniel and Robbie

Kind of fun to see Daniel and his buddy Robbie play like they did today, since they looked like this about two years ago...

Seven months

What do seven month olds do...they eat and play and explore and eat some more. Here are seven of his latest tricks:

1. David is a bottomless pit. He looked at us like we were crazy when we tried different fruits and veggies and now we have to keep him from up-ending the bowl and spilling it all over the place. Peas, green beans, sweet potato and banana are his fan favorites. Only when he had a stomach bug a week ago did he go for more than a day refusing food.
2. He can grab things (see the video) and concentrates really really hard to get it in his hands. He'll focus on the puffs and do a pretty good job at getting them in his mouth. And then tags on anything are instantly fascinating and MUST be grabbed.
3. Like his daddy, he is a push up pro. Still prefers to be on his belly, but he's realizing that he has upper body strength and pushes himself up with his arms. I can just hear his brain whirring and figuring out how this new trick can make him even more mobile.
4. He is a singer. Daniel tested his range...a lot, but David almost sounds like he's singing scales. Maybe that's mommy wishful thinking, but I'm holding out hope he'll be the front man with his brother playing guitar, drums and keyboard.
5. David is a pacifier boy. He'll chomp on his thumb once in awhile, but the paci is his soother. And thankfully, he's almost perfected putting it back in his own mouth...ahhhh.
6. He's a snuggler and will get mad if I get home and he's still in his car seat or being held by daddy and I don't come over right away to give him affection. He definitely gets away with a lot more since I usually just bring him into bed with me if he wakes up between 4 and 5 am and I want to eek out another hour of sleep.
7. He's long and lean, barely a roll of chub on him, but he is about to bust out of his 9 month clothes. No clue where he got those genes...

Oh the places I have pumpted...Part II

I was very thankful for my trip to LA that helped me to prepare for a longer trip (with six different flights and a 5 hour time difference) to Hawaii. I wasn't able to get shots of each place like the floor of the handicap stall at the Four Seasons, right before our event or the Hilton spa locker room because I was rushing like crazy to either get back to the event or catch my shuttle to the airport, but alas...the places I have pumped...

First or second flight (DCA-DFW or DFW-LA), not so bad. Had nursed the little guy in the car at the airport, so this was easy. Loving the smaller bag this time too.

Flight #3 (LAX to KOA): the light was out in the bathroom and we had TERRIBLE turbulence over the Pacific. Ugh.

Finally in Hawaii. All set up and getting a late night pump before heading to bed.

Good morning Hawaii! Screen door is open and the warm breeze is blowing in.

Working on the floor of my hotel room. Both of my co-workers were in the room and didn't even noticed I had pumped (the wind was pretty loud). The one pregnant co-worker was pretty impressed.
In my co-workers car while we were out and about running errands. It was SO hot and the black lava rock fields didn't help. My new cooler was getting a work out and started to leak that afternoon.

Another late night pump. Probably a really caffeinated batch (sorry baby) finalizing seating for the event.

In the disgusting backstage bathroom at our venue. All of the crew guys had been using it all day...it was why I moved to the nicer bathroom next to our staff office/meeting room and pumped on the floor.

Gratuitous event shot...
After two and a half days! packed the booty up in the freeze bags for a single stash and easier transport. Worked like a charm. Packed this all up in the cooler with three bags of ice before going out for a little fun with our co-worker who lived there. Ice melted in the cooler in less than three hours. Stash was safe though.
The Honolulu airport before getting on a red-eye to DFW.  This seemed luxurious after the hasty pump in the Hilton locker room as I was trying to change before heading out.

The red eye: getting a little punchy with the camera settings...

Final pump, DFW to DCA after a plane change and delay to get back to DCA

Home with over 70+ ounces, safe and sound!!

And the little guy who made it all worth it...

Resolve

Resolve (v) - decide firmly on a course of action. (n) firm determination to do something.

Both versions of this word are quite appropriate for the New Year in our household. We'll make the best of plans to better ourselves and make 2014 even better than 2013...but then we usually run into the will of a 2 year old and a 6 month old who seems to be following in big brother's footsteps. Oye. But I wouldn't have it any other way...Here's to a great 2014!
