Weekend fun

It was the first truly miserable hot and humid weekends of the summer. So lots of indoor activities and sadly lots of tv. We did start out with a Friday night family movie (Findign Nemo) and then mommy and daddy had a movie date night (Jurrasic World) while the boys watch the Fireman Sam movie with the babysitter. And then when it was 90 degrees at 11am, I took the boys to see the Minions movie...in 3D after church. I was worried they'd be squirmy, but they were fantastic and happy with the big bag of popcorn. David sat in my lap for most of the time and Daniel sat next to me. Movie win!!

David also (finally) got his Ikea trainset that I had got him for his birthday. He's been playing with the set at Auntie Jen's and remarkably knows how to put all of the pieces together to make a track. I had to help complete this loop, but he chugged the trains right along saying "choo choo train"

Oh and we took lots of naps...the heat will do that.

But one of the highlights of the weekend was the call I got on Friday afternoon that the power had gone out at the boys' school. By the time I got there an hour later it was back on, but it was 3:30 so I figured why not just get them. We went to the new FroYo shop by our house. BIG winner. Daniel got to mix his flavors and pick his own toppings. David just ate a bar and nibbled on my toppings.

Colonial Beach

Time for our annual pilgrimage to Colonial Beach, for another race. I was going to make a day of it, but thankfully Chris suggested we make a long weekend and we got one of the last houses available. And of course a golf cart. Little Grandma came down for part of the trip and even though half of Saturday (and my entire race) was a complete wash out, we did plenty of golf cart driving, ice cream eating and some river swimming. Thankfully no sunburns, thanks to the rain, but lots of mosquito bites. Baby David is as tasty as his mommy. Fun time had by all. We even looked at some possible investment/rental properties to have a more permanent place to visit.

Snoozing on the way there

Snuggles and sleepy boys

I did a good job wearing the boys out during the holiday weekend and I was treated to two long naps. The second part of David's nap was ON me, but he slept while I watched a DVR'd show. Can't beat the snuggles. I know this won't last forever.

Catch up

I'm out of practice with keeping the blog up to date. Maybe because the app doesn't always work on my phone (case in point, trying for 20 minutes to up this while waiting at the dentist's office this morning), but it's also a lack of time trying to update on multiple platforms. So for now I'll at least try to get photos up for historical "they don't have baby books" purposes.

Some photos from the 4th of July weekend.

Boys and their trucks

Last weekend cousin Alicia was over for a visit and we went to a local "touch a truck" event. These kind of events, where a group brings in construction, emergency, etc, kind of vehicles can be hit or miss, especially after the one we went to the in DC the day before David was born. That one filled a parking lot at RFK AND had a helicopter land and take off. This local one was still pretty fun and the two biggest hits were the trash truck and the mini excavator.

Easter

I was facing another round of "sharing is not caring" colds from the boys and didn't get as many Easter photos as I would have liked. But here are the few that I did get. We all went ot Good Friday services and cheered as people got "bath-tized" and after early Sunday services all took a wonderfully long nap (nice for a sick mommy). As dinner was getting ready the boys played and got in on the action of a neighborhood Easter Egg hunt that our neighbor puts together.

David trying communion during the Good Friday service

Daniel meeting the Easter Bunny at the store on Easter Saturday...and realizing he has treats.

David learning how to hunt for eggs

And learning quickly!

Alicia being a helping more than a hunter

Daniel finding even more eggs!

And MORE eggs.

Helmets optional (they had been riding bikes before the hunt)

Too much fun for baby David.
