Daniel's new thing is to take his afternoon naps in mommy and daddy's bed and if we're so accommodating we join him. He generally gets 2-3 hour naps so we're not knocking it. After a late night last night I got in a little snooze with him and then later in the afternoon David was sitting in my lap while we watched a show and he just passed out. Do lovely to get naps with both of my boys today.
A log of Daniel Munro's and David Forster's adventures as they grow and meet the world.

BEACH!
We spent last week visiting Colonial Beach, VA for a family getaway. We've been there twice before for long weekends, but this time we went for an entire week. it was a bit of a birthday present for mom/grandma to spend time with family while she recovers and a chance for me to get in a race and some time out of the office. It certainly wasn't easy or relaxing, but it was rewarding to see how much fun the kids (Alicia was with us as well) had together. Especially driving the golf cart!

Spray Parks!
We are really lucky to be so close to the free spray park at Lee Rec Center and now the new mini spray park at the Potomac Yards playground. We had visits to both over the 4th of July weekend. Daniel has been a fan, but David is getting in on the action now too. Perfect relief for the summer heat.

And now he's just showwing off
Baby David is still crawling when he wants to move quickly, but he's walking more and more each day. Here are some video of him just strolling across the living room. Totally showing off.

A walker!!!/Big brother cheerleader
In honor of David taking his first REAL steps last night as in a "two steps, squat, six steps, turn, grin at daddy to make sure he was watching" routine and absolutely NO photo or video evidence, I'm posting this blog from a few weeks ago. I had written it, uploaded the video but never clicked publish. It's amazing to me how much more steady he's gotten in three weeks. He's so sure when he's doing the "prairie dog" (popping straight up from a squat, looking around and then popping back down in the squat) and even dancing/bouncing in the squat. Yeah for mobility!!!
The way that we get Daniel to share "his" walker toy is to get him to encourage David and cheer for him for doing a good job walking. Not surprisingly, he's a great cheerleader and David just laughs and laughs while he's walking. Of course, this lasts all of 90 seconds before Daniel decides that he wants to SHOW baby David how to walk and rips away the toy...and cue waterworks.

Under the Sea
The boys' daycare is always well decorated, but their summer decorations for the "Under the Sea" theme is above and beyond. It's all done by the teachers and each room has decorations done by the kids in the room. The hallways and main entrance are extraordinary though. Each day has a different ocean-y theme and they get summer activities like playing in the pool and a sandbox later on in the summer. SO much fun.
