Five months
- He's graduated from riding in the stroller in his car seat to riding facing forward (with a little support to hold him up). Daniel loves having a partner in the BOB
- He's back to waking up and having a 1am or 3am (wish he'd pick one or another) snack. Thankfully he's a super fast and efficient eater and mommy can get back to sleep in 25-30 minutes.
- He loves LOVES his exosaucer. Mommy and Daddy love being able to put him in something. He just studies the attachments and explores what they do, see-saw is a favorite.
- He's not much of a fan of the Bumbo chair and is curious about food, but isn't trying to snatch silverware out of our hands like Daniel did at this age so we're going to hold off on solids for a little while longer.
- Had had his first major cold this month: a triple threat-eye infection, sinus infection and ear infection. The only reason we knew was a bad case of the eye goopies. After some drops and antibiotics he was back to his cheery perky self (in addition to some nasty diapers)
- He is starting to enjoy "playing" with his brother. He grabs his hands and will laugh at his funny faces. It's such a treat to see them enjoy each other.

Daniel took this one!
Daniel gave David the camera to "take a picture" this was one of the ones he took while munching on the camera
Mommy took this one. Big brother wants some love too. (Almost 2 1/2)

Invasion
It was a long sleepless night in the Upham house. We experienced an invasion of tiny screaming people. But somehow I still feel incredibly blessed.

Four...
Three...the number of times he went up to the bathroom on his own, took off his pants and diaper, opened the potty (all by himself) and pee-peed on the potty.
Two...the number M&Ms he gets as treats each time he goes. He doesn't let you forget to give him a "treat".
One....there's lots of that number going on around here!
Again, no photo evidence, but trust us he did it a LOT!

Baby shredder
David's new trick involves crinkling paper and shredding napkins. He got his hands on the Washington Post magazine and crinkled and tore the pages. He was so focused and intent on pulling it apart (and trying to put it in his mouth) that he wailed when I took it away. Who needs expensive baby toys when you have paper!

Two out of three
This morning David made his way into bed with me some time after Chris got up at 4 and I decided it was too early for him to be fussy. But since Daniel was still sleeping and David was in our bed I decided to do my little morning workout routine in our room so I could watch him. Well, Daniel was having none of this being excluded and climbed right of his crib and walked into room say "I got out, mommy, I got out". We (I) have felt a little guilty keeping him in the crib while all of his toddler peers are in big boy/girl beds. But it contains him and if he digs it and it keeps him out of trouble, I'm fine with it. But this was the first, uh oh, I think we're turning a page here and getting a real "big kid". And then tonight while we were making dinner he opened the fridge door all by himself. Uh oh. But the final straw was when Chris and I were both sitting on the couch and Connor started barking outside to be let in. Chris, half joking, said Daniel go let him in. Daniel went to the kitchen, but thankfully can't get his little hands around the doorknob. All of our inside doors have lever handles. I let out a sigh of relief that even though he can now get out of bed and raid the fridge at least he can't escape the house...yet. Curious has always been his middle name but him be my little guy a little bit longer.
