Two months (official pictures)

Second children always get the short end of the stick. Case in point, mommy is two weeks late in posting official two month pictures. The first picture was the morning of, but then we headed off to his two-month check up where he got his first round of vaccines...all four of them. Unlike Daniel who screamed all day the day he got those shots, David slept. And slept. And slept. I had to wake him up to feed him and even then he wasn't thrilled with the world. Poor guy. Never again. His 4 month check up is scheduled for the 17th of September just so we can have happy "month birthdays".

In this last month (and 11 days) he's started smiling a lot, thank God. Mommy really needed that. His longest sleeping stretches are usually 4 hours, not terrible, but I'm looking forward to them getting a little longer when I go back to work next week. Some other notable "achievements":
-he's really thinking about rolling over, especially when he gets all stiff when he's frustrated, he's so close to fliupping from back to stomach
-He's a gassy baby...cracks Daniel up who will always call him out "Baby David tooted!"
-He's a good eater, making mommy a good producer. Let's keep that one up buddy.
-He hates wet diapers, poopy ones last about 90 seconds before he's screaming for it to come off
-He's a snuggler and prefers to be held upright
-He's realizing that his hands are attached to his body...so very interesting.
-And finally...I'm calling it....he's going to be blue-eyed and right-handed

UPDATE: I had written this originally thinking I hadn't posted a THING for his two month, looking back I did...just forgot the picture. Oh mommy brain.

All smiles on his two month...until he got his shots

Already bigger than his brother at this point...

Chunky thighs!!

Let's go Nats!

Daniel had already been to an exciting Nats game last fall and technically David was there was well since I was just pregnant and didn't know it yet. But for our Anniversary I gave Chris tickets to a fun afternoon game...and not just any tickets, PNC Diamond Club tickets right behind home plate. We had access to an all you can eat buffet and an air conditioned dining area that worked well for Daniel to run around and burn off some energy. And while Daniel made his professional sports debut at 11 weeks at a Redskins game, David beat him by two weeks and hit up this game at 9 weeks. Even though that Nats aren't as great as they were last year, this was an exciting game (Nats won 6-0 and Strasburg pitched a shut out) and a great family outing!

Future boy scout

We've had some fall-like weather this month and we decided to take advantage of it by firing up the chimnea and teaching Daniel how to build a fire, roast some marshmallows and make s'mores. Thankfully this fearless child has a healthy fear of fire and made daddy do the cooking. He sure enjoyed the eating part though.

Milestones

I need to get caught up on some fun things that have gone on the last two weeks, but first some of David's milestones from the last few days: smiling, nearly rolling over and realizing that his hands belong to his body (and finding his thumb!) Time is flying by, but I sure love those smiles

"Thriving"

David turns 2 months today and boy does time fly! We've always thought he was a cute baby, but he's REALLY getting cute now. At his check up today the doctor used the word "thriving" over and over to describe him and i'd have to agree, a three pound weight gain and 1.5" growth spurt in 6 weeks is pretty darn good. And as the sole provider of his nutrients it makes this tired momma feel really really good. And while I'm dreading going back to work and back to the pump, I'll take this first step victory. A few of David's accomplishments this month:
-being awake more (during the day)
-making noises other than crying
-watching things in the room and shadows from the windows
-pushing off with his legs to "stand" and trying to hold up his head (not a fan of tummy time though)
-drinking from a bottle (mommy had a night out!)
-sleeping for 4 hour stretches at night...most of the time.

Date with my big boy

I'm a bit behind with my blogging again, I'm just trying to soak up my last few weeks of leave. Daniel's daycare was closed for Eid last week so I braved it and took both boys to a concert at Wolf Trap. We had gone to a concert earlier last month with grandma, but this was just me....with both boys...in the open. Daniel is returning to his clingy mommy self so he actually stayed close by my side and while we left the show a little early, we enjoyed a nice picnic lunch while I fed baby David his lunch. It helped with mommy's confidence to have another successful venture out with two! It also helped that I bribed him with an ice cream pop.

Mommy's little companion

It hit me that I only have a month left of leave. So instead of sitting around the house watching Netflix I've decided to get out and about a bit more and do a few thing I enjoy. I had grand plans of seeing a bunch of movies the week before David was born but he decided to come a week early! So to the movies we go! We've already seen two and we'll try to see at least 2-3 more. If he's strapped in the Bjorn and I feed him halfway through (and I see an early movie in an empty theater) he's happy as a clam. And then there's shopping...a trip to Target with Daniel in tow is exhausting, but David...as long as I keep him moving allows me to go into high-end places and get doted on! And then there's pedicure...that's just for fun :-) I may be exhausted but at least we're having a little fun.

Love

Happy 7 weeks baby David. Big brother Daniel loves you even though he's realizing that you're here to stay.

Little gremlin

This is what happens when mommy is upstairs cooking dinner and daddy is getting out a final run to the post office before it closes. No he's not helping with daddy's work, but he is helping himself to half a pack of daddy's gum.
